Insect Mages chibi-style

Does that title make any sense? No? Look closely at the hairstyles on these girls. From top left clockwise you should see a spider on the catgirl, a scorpion on the fox, a centipede on the cat and a dragonfly on the panda. See them? They all have jewels for heads and little legs of hair. I sometimes wonder if they are too subtle.

Why insects? I was doodling one day and created a hairstyle with a bun that looked like a spider. And I liked the idea of girls that look so cute and innocent, yet really are powerful mages with creepy hair So my insect girls were created, and they're _so_ fun to draw. The panda (and her apprentice) especially. And they all have names, which escape me. You all must think I'm terribly absentminded or something. But I'm improving, really. Back in highschool I couldn't even name files. I still have old files with names like "Idonknow" and "Dude3" from when my dad gave up and picked something.

I used Pigma Micron 005 for the inked outlines, Prismacolor colored pencils and maybe Lyra Rembrandt, white gel pen for the texture and highlights, and silver gel pen for the wing veins. Hurray for warm gray memory book paper! I scan the drawings into my computer, so that makes the colors a little smoother than they really are.
