Laces

From the summer of 2002, this piece was one of the highlights of my "Lace-up and Translucent period." (Which lasted all of... three months? But who's counting I can't remember what brought it on, maybe too much Gothic-Lolita combined with lack of air conditioning, but most of my works for Anthrocon that year (including Aqua Tiger) were heavy on the string and light on the coverage This is also about the same time I created "Toon Angel," so it has similar texture, if not as detailed.

I'm especially pleased with the sexy bespectacled bunny and her super-haremish costume. The colors turned out lovely. The Birman in the center looks demonic, and the panda is unique among my pandas for her long wavy hair.

I used Pigma Micron 005 for the inked outlines, Prismacolor colored pencils for the color, and white gel pen for the texture and highlights. The paper is yummy warm gray memory book paper (which doesn't contrast with them as well as a warmer tone might... hum.) I scan the drawings into my computer, so that makes the colors a little smoother than they really are.
