Artist's Comments

This is my entry for the TerraSpace contest [link] and [link] It also fulfills 86. Seeing Red of the 100 Theme Challenge I'm working on [link]

My entry is stylistically very different from the other entries, but I'm happy with it. I scavenged textures from some of my other digital pieces, but all of the components are from my own work. This was a good stretch for me artistically, since my specialty is colored pencil figure work.

Photoshop 7 and CS2. I worked on this for several weeks on and off, with a long break in the middle due to computer issues.

I've enjoyed seeing the other entries. Good luck to everyone.

This looks really kool, especially the terrain.
Good job :)

Thank you very much :) I did give that terrain a lot of attention, glad you like how it turned out. I learned so much working on it.

Good luck in the contest!

This looks like one of those old school science-fiction novel covers...and I bet it'd do really well in SF con art shows, too. ;)

...or, perhaps, as a cover for a prog rock album...bit of a Roger Dean-esque vibe coming through, methinks...

Brilliant work, ma'am. :)

Love the background with the wispyness and the stars. And just the whole overall artwork. It's great! :D

Allo thar. I am Nate. I write. Stories and Reviews. I take requests. ;D

Thank you. I had a lot of fun designing the nebulastuff and the stars. I played around with a lot of different transparencies to get this balance. I love working on this kind of picutre, so I'm sure I'll do more :)

Hehe, thanks. I have always loved stars and spacescapes, so it's been really fun to play around with these.

You're right, with the red overall it looks like one of the really old paperbacks :) I'm sure some of the older science-fiction covers have sneaked into the back of my mind for just such an occasion :D

Mmm, album covers. Journey, Boston, and Yes have always had awesome covers… I wonder if it would be a good challenge to design a CD cover... Thanks for the idea!
