Toon Angel

One of my cutest pictures ever, and a fun experiment in a cartoon style. My little mink toon angel. I paid very careful attention her multicolor eyes, the variations in her wings, and the texture of her fur. This is one of my bestsellers and most popular pieces.

I love her eyes! So pretty, with so many colors. I think her toon style hands with three fingers worked well. That's a tricky element for me to draw, as I haven't had much practice with it. I had a lot of fun adding the little tiny white lines to bring out her fur texture. My watercolor final project from the prior fall had helped me to develop variations in white tones that I had lacked before, and I used those lessons well in this piece in the wings.

I used Pigma Micron 005 for the inked outlines, Prismacolor colored pencils for the color, and white gel pen for the texture and highlights. The paper is yummy warm gray memory book paper. I scan the drawings into my computer, so that makes the colors a little smoother than they really are.
